Volunteer Opportunities

Looking for ways to contribute to the Winslow House community? Consider becoming a volunteer.  Volunteer placement is made based on an individual’s interests, experience, abilities and availability.  Volunteer weekly, monthly, or one task a season!  Below is a list of the areas where help is most needed:

• Front Desk Greeter - When the Winslow House is open for tours we must have a volunteer staffing our front desk to green visitors and answer questions.  

• Administrative - We always need assistance in general office tasks such as answering the phone, bulk mailings, filing and more.

• Tour Guides - Receive training to become a Winslow House docent, research the history of the colonial Winslow family and Massachusetts society, and pass on this knowledge to our variety of visitors in virtual or in-person formats.

• Event Volunteer - We run a full calendar of programs and events during the season, May through November, annually.  Whether you simply want to greet and orient guests for a lecture or help with our more complex special events, we have the perfect task for you!

• Research - Learn the fascinating history of past Winslow House residents!  Interested in a particular subject?  Research projects can be suggested by our staff to carry out our mission.

• Building and Grounds - Each season requires a full cleanup of the property and continuous work during the season.  This requires a LOT of assistance!  Cleanup may include moving light furniture, landscape maintenance, cleaning and working in storage areas.

• Calling all green thumbs! - The Winslow House property spans a whopping 18 acres with many plantings surrounding the house, including a traditional 18th century herb garden and a perennial garden.  It's important for the grounds to be kept up and looking beautiful for weddings and events that are scheduled throughout the season. If you love to garden or just love working outside, there are always gardening tasks to keep you busy.
